CREW is executing the Sewerage System project, which is a modern sanitation infrastructure designed to systematically collect, convey, treat, and recycle wastewater generated from residential, commercial, and institutional areas. The fundamental concept of a UGSS is to collect drainage water through a closed underground pipeline network, treat it using advanced technologies, and safely reuse the treated water for agriculture and industrial purposes.
Under this scheme, Chengalpattu Municipality is divided into two zones for efficient implementation and operation of the sewerage network. The collection system comprises underground sewer lines ranging from 150 mm to 600 mm in diameter (DWC/CI pipes), covering a total length of 61.98 km, along with 2,684 machine holes for inspection and maintenance.
The collected sewage will be conveyed through 2 Sewage Pumping Stations (SPS) and 6 Lift Stations (LS) to the proposed Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of 11.35 MLD capacity located at Aathur B Revenue Village. The STP will operate using advanced Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) technology coupled with ultrafiltration to ensure effective treatment and high-quality effluent suitable for reuse.
The project is structured into two distinct packages for streamlined execution:
Work orders have been issued for both packages to facilitate timely implementation of the scheme.
